[:en]The new 28 meter long carbon fiber catamaran M/F Erla Kongsdóttir build at GS Marine is almost ready to go for sea trial.
This boat has been developed in close cooperation between GS Marine, Strandfaraskip Landsins & Faroe Maritime Services.
This catamaran will be able to take 97 passengers and three cars.Initially, this HSC catamaran will be used for the ever-increasing tourist traffic in the Faroes, but will also serve as a reserve solution for the ordinary ferry company at Strandfaraskip Landsins.
M/F Erla Kongsdóttir has a hybrid battery system. that makes it possible to sail for about 2 hours only on battery, this will make the sailing completely emission-free and the passengers experience of the sailing trips on battery\’s to for example the bird mountain and nature reserve will be done quietly, not disturbing the wildlife and giving the passenger\’s a much grater experience at this locations.
